Item #289 - Cowboy Photograph Album

Description: This is a wonderful old cowboy photo album. The actual album is a deep burgundy color with gold embossing. The word "Photographs" on the cover reminds us of the late 1920s or early 30s. The spine is still in good condition but shows its age. There is minor loss of the burgundy covering on the spine where it has been opened and closed many times in its lifetime. This album contains space for 50 pictures although there are only 49 pictures present. The last page of the album does not contain a picture but does have a sticker that is rectangular. It reads "No.54 - BULLET (or Bulls Eye?) ALBUM - manufactured by: The HEINN SPECIALTY CO., MILWAUKEE, WIS." There isn't anything written about, in, or on, the pictures or album at all. We have taken a few of the photos out to look at the back and on all of them there is an "82" with a looped line, hand written with a lead pencil. The images are glossy and on paper, not reproductions but the original photos. This photo album looks like a pictorial documentary about 3 cowboys going on a hunting trip or something similar. We can't tell if the cowboys are on offical business, but we believe they may be Rangers. It appears to show where they stayed and drank at the beginning of their trip. We believe that the photos were placed in the album in the sequence of events as they happened. It looks like they meet up with an Indian squaw as there is a photo of her sleeping on the ground. There are other characters that they meet up with such as a fellow who was proud of his dog. This must have been a long trip as it starts in warm weather then near the end of the album they are in the snow. We can only guess at the location where all this took place, but it must have been in the northwest part of our country. This is a very interesting album, that when examined closely, you will be able to see details of items and the things that went on in the lives of men and women from the early part of the 20th century. It surely is an historic visual record worthy of being cared for and cherished. Album is 7 1/2" x 6" x 1 1/2" thick. One picture on each side of the page. Photos are 3 1/2 " x 3 1/2".
