Item #1189 - Ansonia Indian Buffalo Clock

Description: Antique Ansonia clock with Indian top statue and buffalo heads on the side. It is enamel over cast iron. The Indian and buffalo heads are dark steel gray pot metal with tints of copper and bronze. The Indian is attached with one bolt to the top of the clock. We have no idea if this Indian is of a certain tribe. His face looks European and his hair is gathered back and tied to feathers. He is wearing a bear claw and disc necklace. He is armed with a long knife and ax as well as the staff he holds which is bronze. It is marked "LSF" for an unknown sculptor. The clock has been recently cleaned and oiled and is in excellent working order. It gongs on the half hour and the appropriate number of times on the hour. It is 25" tall to the top of the Indian's staff. Dated June 14, 1881 on the back. The dial is porcelain with no chips or cracks and has a visual outside escapement wheel.
